I want to go!
On 31st they are at Glastonbury and 30th at Avebury.
I cannot afford both and I don't think I could get to Avebury in time as I haven't booked Friday off.
So I am now going to look to see if I can afford it.
Fingers and toes crossed please!

Oh Oh Oh :) Empty Re: Oh Oh Oh :)

Post by mia on April 9th 2013, 3:47 am

The day before I left, Friday 29/3, I checked my bank balance.
It was almost empty.
I had been given less and less work, cos of losing clients, due to passing or moving to residential care, but didn't realise how
bad it was re wages.
I am not one for checking my money, I leave it to the universe to give me as much as I need.
But I was concerned and had to get in the right place to accept all would be well.
So I did.
I had already paid for my motel room, I just needed diesel and food.
So, I started baking ..... scones, fruit tarts, cheese straws, cheese, potato and onion pasties.
Made flasks of soup, bread and butter and packed fruit and breakfast bars .... all was in the cupboards.
My grandson was staying here to look after my home and the two cats and there were pizzas and pasties in the freezer, plus the goodies I keep for the grandkids,
so he was ok (he is 18) and he had internet and tv.
Daughter transferred money to my account to help too.
So, off we went.
It was alternate snow and sunshine on the journey and we arrived after only one detour lol
That evening, after resting, I couldn't resist a walk to the foot of Wearyall Hill, the sheep and lambs were grazing, it was peaceful despite the busy road into town.
The following morning, I awoke, showered, woke daughter and had another wander whilst she showered, then we had breakfast bars and a banana for breakfast, cups of tea.
My knee was very painful and I didn't think I could make the climb to the top of the Tor, so was resigned to just hearing and feeling the vibration of the drum from the foot.
Also daughter (Amy) had twisted her ankle in the shower and was in pain.
I posted on facebook our problem ..... I had several replies, offers of healing, but one stood out, from my friend Helen,
She posted

Yes
you will! Sending AA Raphael to you both - see/feel an emerald green
bandage wrapped around your knee, Amys ankle and feel the healing power -
along with reiki the pain will vanish xx

This gave me encouragement, so I visualised the bandage and felt the healing, so did Amy ..... and off we went.
Amy stayed in town, wandered around the shops whilst I went onto the Tor.
It was a hard climb, I stopped several times on the way up, but I made it in time Smile
The gathering was the other side of the tower. A huge circle and I heard the main druid say "All hold hands"
I walked up and asked two men if I could squeeze in, the druid said to make the circle bigger for me Smile
I was so happy, enthralled .... in the centre was the World Peace Drum Very Happy
I don't know the proper names of the druids, one lady druid stood and talked about how Britannia isn't on our coins any more and how nit is making our currency worth less than before.
Another spoke of Brigid, then the head druid spoke of the dragon beneath the Tor and we needed to wake him up, so we had to shout, scream, sing, whatever.
Many had their drums with them (I want one!) and beat them.
Then we sang a song, I only joined in the chorus, cos I didn't know it. Then a prayer was said.
Then .... the female druid picked up the World Peace Drum and beating it, walked round the circle, holding a spare drumstick, allowed each of us to beat it too!
I was overwhelmed ...... when it was my turn, I did it perfectly, didn't want to stop, it was hard to stop .....
After we all had a turn, we held hands again, said another prayer for peace and unity and gave each other a hug.
Then four of the druids, in turn said thank you to north, south, east and west.
I managed to take some photos during and after the celebration.
I sat for a while on top of the Tor, marvelling at all I had experienced and the fact my knee had not troubled me.
Then started my walk down.
As I approached the steps, there was a young girl, about 16, with her parents.
They had managed to get her up there, but she was afraid of descending.
I chatted to her and encouraged her to go down one step, then another and another, talking and encouraging all the time.
When we were half way down, I told her I would have to slow down as my knee had started paining me again .... and .... a man behind me said to hold o n to him and he would help me!
And he did, we walked down, arms linked, chatting away.
He is a reiki master too, and has travelled all over with his drum .... I couldn't believe it ...... what a magical day Smile
I met Amy in town, treated ourselves to a bag of chips, wandered around, then back to the motel for a nap.
We watched a programme I wanted to see, had a bath, did cards for each other, then slept.
Following day, I had another wander to Wearyall Hill, then started the long drive home.
61/2 hours each way and 630 miles.

WOW Mia....... what an amazing adventure for you.
I'm so glad you got to go. With the funds, vehicle and Amy.
It was definitely to be.
It all sounds like an exceptional day and event.
And your healing, how wonderful.
And the help down the hill by the Reiki master and friends.
Thanks for sharing that memorable day; I felt like I was there.
Especially in the country; since I've been over seas in England before I know the weather.

I have drummed once at Harmony Grove in the Healing Temple
http://www.harmonygrovespiritualist.org/cabins.html

They have a huge drum in there. It was fun.
I've always wanted a drum with a native painting on it; maybe of an owl or bear.

Thanks again Mia for sharing.

Thank you Deb xx
I looked at the link you posted.
What a lovely peaceful place.
I have looked at some drums, the cheapest in Glastonbury was £99.
I would like a better one though ..... maybe one day Smile
It's on my wish list.

Oh Oh Oh :) Empty Creator~ I give thanks for my drum for bringing me peace in my heart and the primordial heart beat that connects our souls together as One~ For this I am grateful.

Post by ATouchofHeart on April 10th 2013, 2:14 am

Mia, let me see if I can find a site I found. She had some amazing hand painted designs.

You mentioned 99 pounds or 151.65 US dollars.

No two drums are the same – each has its own distinctive structure,
spirit, and life based on both the culture in which it was made and the
hands of the one who made it. The drum is not just a music-maker, but a
voice for the soul within the music.

The Healing Power of Drums

For
centuries, drumming has been a central part of indigenous
cultures worldwide. Drumming has been commonplace at wedding
ceremonies, births, deaths, harvests and rites of passage.
It is used by peoples to connect to the Earth and to one another.
As a universal, vibrational language, the drumbeat communes with
the Earth and all her creatures. In recent years, major
articles describing the healing effects of this ancient
practice have appeared in newspapers and magazines such as
The New York Times, Yoga Journal, The Wall Street Journal
and Newsweek.
Drumming is now being
used successfully in programs to aid Alzheimer's patients,
autistic children, and emotionally disturbed teens as well
as by large corporations to help employees focus attention
and improve the spirit. Medical researchers now testify to the stress
reducing effects of this ancient art. According to current
medical research, stress either causes or exacerbates 98% of
all disease. The brain's fundamental need for rhythm has
long been known in the field of music therapy. Studies
indicate that drumming for brief periods can actually change
a person's brainwave patterns, dramatically reducing
stress.
The drum is an easily accessible
tool for reconnecting with our deeper selves. Our hands
connect with a drum that vibrates with our energy and
vitality. In turn this calms us, centers us, and reconnects
us with ourselves as well as with the world around us.
Drumming is one of the oldest healing rituals known to man. Drumming
the HEART BEAT RHYTHM can be done with little or no previous
musical background or training. This is an experience
accessible to all people. The ability to drum is alive in
all of us.
