Who is Lucifer? Empty Who is Lucifer?

Post by 23luda23 on June 27th 2009, 3:21 am

I read one post and it got my attention. I tried to find information on the web but most state that Lucifer is the Devil or Satan but I can’t find the connection. I am wondering if anyone here may have a reliable information about this.

Thank you :help:

P.S. I found this at http://www.masonicinfo.com/lucifer.htm

"Lucifer makes his appearance in the fourteenth chapter of the Old Testament book of Isaiah, at the twelfth verse, and nowhere else: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!""

"The first problem is that Lucifer is a Latin name. So how did it find its way into a Hebrew manuscript, written before there was a Roman language? To find the answer, I consulted a scholar at the library of the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. What Hebrew name, I asked, was Satan given in this chapter of Isaiah, which describes the angel who fell to become the ruler of hell? The answer was a surprise. In the original Hebrew text, the fourteenth chapter of Isaiah is not about a fallen angel, but about a fallen Babylonian king, who during his lifetime had persecuted the children of Israel. It contains no mention of Satan, either by name or reference. The Hebrew scholar could only speculate that some early Christian scribes, writing in the Latin tongue used by the Church, had decided for themselves that they wanted the story to be about a fallen angel, a creature not even mentioned in the original Hebrew text, and to whom they gave the name "Lucifer.""

"Why Lucifer? In Roman astronomy, Lucifer was the name given to the morning star (the star we now know by another Roman name, Venus). The morning star appears in the heavens just before dawn, heralding the rising sun. The name derives from the Latin term lucem ferre, "bringer, or bearer, of light." In the Hebrew text the expression used to describe the Babylonian king before his death is Helal, son of Shahar, which can best be translated as "Day star, son of the Dawn." The name evokes the golden glitter of a proud king's dress and court (much as his personal splendor earned for King Louis XIV of France the appellation, "The Sun King")."

"The scholars authorized by the militantly Catholic King James I to translate the Bible into current English did not use the original Hebrew texts, but used versions translated from the Catholic Vulgate Bible produced largely by St. Jerome in the fourth century. Jerome had mistranslated the Hebraic metaphor, "Day star, son of the Dawn," as "Lucifer," and over the centuries a metamorphosis took place. Lucifer the morning star became a disobedient angel, cast out of heaven to rule eternally in hell. Theologians, writers, and poets interwove the myth with the doctrine of the Fall, and in Christian tradition Lucifer is now the same as Satan, the Devil, and - ironically- the Prince of Darkness."

"So "Lucifer" is nothing more than an ancient Latin name for the morning star, the bringer of light. That can be confusing for Christians who identify Christ himself as the morning star, a term used as a central theme in many Christian sermons. Jesus refers to himself as the morning star in Revelation 22:16: "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.""

"And so there are those who do not read beyond the King James version of the Bible, who say "Lucifer is Satan: so says the Word of God," while others with knowledge of the Latin and Hebrew texts say, "No, Lucifer is the classical Roman name for the morning star, and now Jesus is the morning star." This discussion can only anger certain fundamentalists. (I have at hand an evangelical tract from a Baptist church that says, "I believe in the Infallibility and Preservation of God's Word, of which the King James 1611 authorized version is the God-guided faithful translation.")"

"Fortunately, this issue of errors in biblical translations is not one that we have to struggle with ourselves. Generations of biblical scholars of all faiths have been aware of the mistranslations and of the misunderstandings that arise from the use of archaic terms whose meanings have been lost, or have evolved into different usages. To address these problems a conference was held in October 1946, attended by delegates of the Church of England, the Church of Scotland, and the Baptists, Methodists, and Congregationalist churches. At another meeting four months later, delegates from the Presbyterians and Quakers joined the original group, along with representatives of various Bible societies. Still later, observers were sent as representatives of the Roman Catholic Church."

"The work on a new translation of the Bible, direct from the sources, stretched out over several years. The most distinguished biblical scholars and specialists in the world were invited to contribute, and every delegate was given the opportunity to review and express his own views on every verse, every word, as presented by the translators."

"The result of this prodigious joint effort was The New English Bible, of which the New Testament was published in 1969 and the Old Testament one year later."

"That does not mean that I have cast aside my King James version: I have them both. But I must recognize that while God may be the inspirational source of all the Old and New Testament scriptures, He is certainly not responsible for the imperfect translations from the language of the earliest surviving texts. To err is human, and men can become overzealous because of the emotional aspects of the subject."

"To the point, the verse in the King James version (Isaiah 14:12) that begins "How art thou fallen from heaven, 0 Lucifer..." has now been translated directly from the Hebrew in the New English Biible as "How you have fallen from heaven, bright morning star..." There is no mention of Lucifer, no reference to any disobedient angel plunging to hell, nor should there be."

Based on this information Lucifer is not an angel but a man. However I would be glad to know any additional information that may exist.

Who is Lucifer? Empty Re: Who is Lucifer?

Post by Spirit-Being on June 29th 2009, 2:53 am

The best place to start searching would be Arch Angel Michael he was the one who according to some writings defeated Lucifer.

I have always known Lucifer as one of Gods closest and beautiful angels, and then Lucifer was jelous and wanted to be a God himself. This leading to his demise as Arch Angel Michael and the Heavenly Angels of God led the charge and defeated Lucifer and all his dominions who sought Power and Glory.

Of course this belief was part of my upbringing, about 3 years ago i became interested in learning and growing spiritually. I did alot of research on Angelic Beings, i loved angels so much that i wished i would become an angel one day. I became interested in Angelic Script, as i dug further this strengthening my belief in angels good & evil, but the kicker was i only looked for information that strengthened my belief, anything that did not validate angels, i would not read. Maybe i was not being open enough, or maybe i thought i knew the truth.

these questions keep appearing in my mind.

what happens after we finish life/lives on earth.?

What do we become?

where do we go?

Does anyone have proof where we go.?

Do we become angels?

Do we reincarnate on a new earth like planet after this one?

Do we sit in a heaven content in Gods company?

Note: I am all over the place tonight, i am in a great struggle and sleep keeps eluding me. what am i suppose to learn? It is 2:32am here and i am so full of questions tonight i just really needed to get some of them off my chest. But i have been through this confussion many times and something good always comes out of this with much more understanding. but the confussion, is very hard to deal with, but once it's over a new awakening happens.

My apologies if i stepped out of the boundaries of the post.

For me i would have trouble imagining a world without good & bad angels. I do not have the answers for whether Lucifer was a real angel or not. But i know you will find the answers you seek very soon..

You are doing great we can always get answers through research. This post has made me question whether or not i have done enough research. I shall also look into some things see what i can dig up.

Here is the story of the war in heaven according to some writings, where they got this story from i do not know.

http://sacredmint.com/michael-the-archangel-slaying-lucifer-relief.htm

God had made Heaven and the Earth and all the Angels and all the extra important Angels, called Archangels. (Like an extra important Bishop is called an Archbishop.) The Archangels were God's very special friends and were Shining and Strong and Powerful. One Archangel was called Gabriel. He was the one that God sent to tell Our Blessed Lady that She was to become the Mother of God, the Mother of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Another Angel was called Raphael; he was the one who helped Tobias in the Bible. Another Archangel was called Michael. Archangel Michael was "the Angel of the Lord", who was sent to Moses and Jacob and Abraham and to other people throughout the history of the world. Another Archangel was Lucifer, who was so beautiful that the other Angels called him the Son of the Morning.

Well, everybody was very happy because they were with God, and they all loved him, because he had made them so Strong and Shining and Lovely. Then one day Lucifer, Son of the Morning, said to himself: "Why should God be the most important person in Heaven? Why, shouldn't I be? I can fly and I can change into other things, and I am beautiful and I am powerful. In fact, I am just as Important as God, and I shan't do what He tells me ever again. I shall fight Him and have Heaven for mine!"

So, Lucifer went around Heaven, and he collected many other Angels who also didn't want to be less Important than God, until he had a Great Army. Then they marched up to the Throne of God and said Proudly: "We are just as Important as You. Why should You be the King of Heaven any more than one of us? We are Strong and Proud and Beautiful, and we will fight You for the Kingdom of Heaven." God looked at them; then He said: "Lucifer, I thought that you were My friend, and I trusted you. Be sensible now, and think about what you are doing." "I have thought," said Lucifer, "and, I'd rather not be in Heaven at all than have You for my King, and so would all of us!" And behind him all the Rebel Angels shouted with a great shout: "We will follow Lucifer! Long live Lucifer! Let him reign over us in Heaven! We do not want God!" "Very well," said God, "if you don't want Me, you needn't have Me. But, if you want to fight for Heaven, you can if you think it will be any good." God then called upon Michael the Archangel, and requested he gather together a Mighty Army of Angels who would fight on Gods side.

There was a Great Battle in Heaven--Michael the Archangel and his Angels fighting with Lucifer; and, Lucifer fought, and his Angels fought; but, the dark forces did not triumph. Archangel Michael drove Lucifer right out of Heaven, and he fell down, and down, and down to hell; and, all his evil angels were driven down after him, and as the last one disappeared from sight forever and the Gate of Heaven clanged shut, a great Shout went up from Michael's Army. Michael and his Angels fought against the dragon....and the great dragon was cast out. (Revelation: 12:7-9).

Many Blessings

Found something interesting.

EternalSerenity wrote:Watchers. Fallen Angels. Nephilims. Lucifer and Satan.

http://lightworkers.org/blog/77146/watchers-fallen-angels-nephilims

So here of late, questions have been arising as to what exactly the “Watchers”, “Fallen Angels”, “Nephilims”, “Lucifer & Satan” all have in common. I’ve been doing some light research (I’ll need more time to actually get full answers) and came across some questionable things.

We all know what Fallen Angels are, right? If not, let’s do a little refresh of memory. Supposedly the Fallen Angels are those Angels that were “thrown out”, banished from the Heaven’s by The Holiness (God) for either disobeying Him or rebelling against Him. For example: It is highly believed by modern-day Christians that Lucifer is also known as Satan to have been banished from Heaven by rebelling against God, because (correct me if I’m wrong) he was “jealous” over God’s love of mankind, and he wanted to be “higher”, and not have to bow before man as it has been said that God spoke to the Angels about.

Personal belief:
I believe that Lucifer and Satan are two different beings. Lucifer (the “Morning Star” or “Light Bearer”, which is not to be confused with the “Day Star” aka Jesus) was an actual Archangel. Where as Satan (the “Dark Star”) is the opposite of God. He is void, null of Light, darkness and pure evil. It is my belief that Satan manipulated Lucifer. He saw something inside Lucifer that he toyed with, and was able to get him to do what he wanted. Perhaps Satan knew that he couldn’t directly attack God, so why not turn his own beloved Angels against him? Could there have been a possible chance that Lucifer could, in fact, do away with God? Well obviously Satan thought so, or else why would he have the Archangel try?

It has been said that Lucifer joined (or most likely lead) a third of the divine host. A third of them, at first it doesn’t mean that many, right? According to the Bishop of Tusculum (c. 1273), and this was reaffirmed by Alphonso de Spina the total of angels that fell was estimated at 133,306,668 within the span of 9 days. (A lil numerology fun here- total up the numbers and it comes to 36 which equals 9. Just FYI.)

Now there is no certainty as to when the War in Heaven actually took place. But we do know it had to be after the creation of man, and perhaps during the time of Jesus. It’s just a guess, not fact.

Many Blessings

Who is Lucifer? Empty Re: Who is Lucifer?

Post by Spirit-Being on June 29th 2009, 11:30 am

Lucifer was Clearly a Man, and Not the Devil, and Certainly Not an Angel of the Lord

Lucifer is not the devil, and the devil was not an angel of the Lord.
There is only one text in the bible that is about Lucifer. It is in
the book of Isaiah 14-32.

Isaiah 14:16 "They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and
consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble,

that did shake kingdoms;" It clearly said right there, that Lucifer is a
man.

The book of Isaiah is not talking about the devil, it is talking about
a man. It talks about his pride, he was a proud ruler that thought of
himself higher than God. When it talks about fallen from heaven. It
is talking about this mans pride being destroyed. If you read, you
will see how God destroyed it.

If the devil was not an angel, what is he then? He is a snake, the
book Genesis proves that. Genesis 3:1 "Now the serpent was more subtil
than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said
unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the
garden?" The devil is literally a snake.

More proof about the devil being a snake is in Revelation 12.
Revelation 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called
the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out
into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

Here is something someone said a long time ago. 2 Corinthians
11:13-14 "13For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself
is transformed into an angel of light." This lie about Lucifer has
transformed the devil into an angel of light.

I was only able to find this, because I asked God to show it to me. I
asked God for what the truth was about Lucifer. I opened the bible to
a random spot in the old testament. And then low and behold. "...a
man..."

Thank God he gave us Jesus. Jesus Christ is able to forgive us of all
the temptations we have given into. And he is also able to keep us
out of temptation. He is also able to protect us from the anti-christs.
See http://www.demonbuster.com/ to learn more about God and Jesus.
Also it is a good idea to read the King James Version of the holy bible.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/650157

I found this in the morning and what stood out to me was that this person asked God to show him the truth. Ask and you shall recieve.

Many Blessings

Post by 23luda23 on June 29th 2009, 4:26 pm

Thank you Spirit-Being for all the great info. Thank You I personally have come to conclusions that Lucifer is not Satan or the Devil and the passage in Isaiah is about a man and not Satan. However Satan/Devil is a very real spiritual being with legions of demonic spirits at his command and I have a real reason to believe that not just what I read in books. This being is the opposed of light therefore I personally can not called him Lucifer (the barer of light). I don’t know where he came from but he is obviously a created being by the one God that created everything and for a good reason.

You have very good questions. I like the parable of Jesus that to me explain some of it.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son
11 And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. 14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to [1] one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ [2] 22 But the father said to his servants, [3] ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

25 “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’ 28 But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, 29 but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ 31 And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”

WHO IS LUCIFER ?

First of all before I begin to take on the massive challenge in answering your question, I want to first say, that when I quote from the Bible I am using its metaphor to answer equations. I learned long ago that the Bible was not designed nor can it be taken literally. There is a massive amount of info in there that will never be understood by simply following the letter. It must be broken down into a spiritual format. Now that being said... let's go...
Your question is, who is Lucifer? That is a good question and one that does not have an easy answer to. The reason I say this is because the name Lucifer actually means Shining Star, the Bright One. As you say he is the Light... Now it is really strange when speaking of the devil or Satan, we know this refers to that which is contrary to the light. Satan is the darkness energy. So if Satan is the Darkness energy and Lucifer is the Light energy, obviously they are not the same.
We hear often how certain groups follow what is called the Luciferian energy. Yet so many of these groups are members of the darkside. So how can they be following the light when they are in darkness? Secondly Paul in the Bible made reference to the fact that Satan can come as an angel of light and deceive even the very children of God. Now how is it possible that Satan, which is darkness, could ever show light? How can Satan manifest the power of God in light when it is darkness?
If you walk into a dark room and turn on the light, the light will all but destroy darkness, it becomes non-existent. So therefore if darkness ever shines as light it would destroy itself. What we have here is a conundrum, an oxymoron. Darkness and light simply cannot mix together. One will always be master. One can only serve one master at a time. If you are light, then this reveals darkness is nonexistent, if you are darkness, then there can be no light.
So who the heck is Lucifer?
First of all, the name Lucifer is not in the Bible as a translation, it was created in the 4th Cneturay AD according to our dating structure. It actually means day star or monring star represented by the planet venus. What is even more interesting is the Bible seems to compare Lucifer to Jesus in the Book of Revelation. In chapter 22, it stated that Jesus is Bright & Shining star. This is the name "Lucifer. of the fourth century" Now why is Jesus being called Lucifer?
Is there commonality with the two?
The first thing one needs to understand is that darkness often times will use principles of the light to magnify their own darkness. This is actually what Paul meant when he said Satan can come as an Angel of Light. Darkness can adopt principles of the lighted ones and then use them to promote more darkness. As an example, Jesus came as light, but many have used this same Jesus to promote darkness. Now this does not mean that the real Jesus had dark energy, it means that the dark energy began using the name of Jesus to deceive many. So in effect it used light to promote darkness.
From the very beginning when the Earth Program began it was created in a holographic system to allow both darkness and light to become a polarity in the same world. So therefore there is an enemy or emnity that will constantly do battle against the children of the light.
So just because Jesus is Jesus does not mean that Jesus is Light or DARK. No more than it means hot dogs are actually steak, although both can come from the same animal
In this same vein, just because Lucifer is used for darkness does not mean Lucifer is of the dark.
Now this brings me back to your question, WHO IS LUCIFER?
Well depending on who you are talking too, Lucifer is the gatekeeper of hell or Lucifer is the shining Star of the Dawn, but he cannot be both in reality only in illusion.
If Jesus can be compared to Lucifer, then we have a problem here don't we?
Was Lucifer an Angel standing before God as one of the highest Seraphim's that existed? And did he fall and rebel? Was this a creation of God that went bad in some form?
Before you answer this question, who does this sound like, really?
Does this not sound like each one of us?
Were we not created by God/Source and then we fell to this realm. Did we not rebel against the law of one. Were we not the children of the Light? Have we not been bound to this earth as such we now have to die the deaths of men.
